Nonprofit honors, celebrates Pacific Islands Region volunteers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The American Red Cross honored its volunteers from across the Pacific Islands Region Friday evening.
The nonprofit held an event at the Alohilani Resort in Waikiki to highlight those who were nominated by others as mission heroes and volunteers of the year.
Winning nominees across Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Hawaii Island, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa traveled to the event to receive their awards.
Organizers said that recipients were recognized and celebrated for their efforts in helping those in need, from active service members and veterans to those impacted by house fires and disasters.
