The first suspect who entered the bank used a bank teller as a human shield until he got back to the vehicle.

Deputies said the three suspects could face a slew of charges, including bank robbery and kidnapping.

Officials with the Ocala Police Department (OPD) said there was a heavy law enforcement presence at a restaurant near the Silver Springs Shores neighborhood following a bank robbery around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Police said it happened at the TD Bank on Southeast 17th Street.

OPD officials said an adult white male entered the bank armed and demanded money after 1 p.m. on Thursday. He was given an unknown amount of cash before fleeing in a black pickup truck.

Police said they were led on a pursuit by the suspect before the vehicle rolled into a retention pond.

Three suspects were involved in the robbery and pursuit, police said, and one suspect sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the wrist. Police expect he will make a full recovery.

The heavy law enforcement presence was near the 4400 block of Southeast Maricamp Road next to the Southern Pig and Cattle restaurant.

Police said multiple suspects are in custody. There was also an officer-involved shooting, but no officers were injured.

They said this is an active investigation that FDLE will be taking over.
