Opposition accuses Election Commission of stealing votes amid Bihar voter list row

A political firestorm has erupted over the SIR voter list exercise, spreading from Bihar to other states. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has accused the Centre and the Election Commission of using the exercise to "quietly erase voters" to favour the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Chief Minister warned the central government "not to play with fire," asserting that "any threat to democracy will be met with very firm resistance." In response, the Election Commission has pointed out the "double-speak" of opposing parties, releasing data showing they have deployed booth-level agents for the same exercise. The BJP has accused the 'Vipaksha' (opposition) of creating a ruckus, claiming they fear losing the Bihar election and are opposing a transparent process.
